As you are aware, this is 2014 and you are a twenty-something, you should be binge watching all the television series on Netflix. So why do you choose to spend your free time reading instead?
I just really love books and reading! I love learning and becoming lost in stories. The past year I have been loving the "Christian Living" genre or "theology" based books. I am obsessed with crazy stories of the work Jesus is doing in the middle east. A book titled, "The Insanity of God" by Nik Ripken is written under a pseudonym and is about his 30+ years in foreign countries where you can be beheaded for even saying the name 'Jesus'. He has to protect all the people in his book so their names have been changed too, but the stories are very raw and real. This book literally blew my mind and changed the entire way I think and the way I am on mission for Jesus Christ. I love when I can be shaped or changed by something I read.
How many books do you have saved on your Amazon 'Wish list' currently? Are there any sweet local book stores that you frequent?
Well my husband and I decided we can't buy any books in 2014 because we have so many! But we may have cheated a couple of times... so of course I have 2 on my wish list for the next time I get a giftcard! Also there aren't many book stores in town, but you also can't beat Amazon prices. There is a sweet lady right by Saggios and I think her store is called "The Book Case". I love that her store is completely disorganized and smells old. Otherwise it is sad the lack of used bookstores in town. Whenever we travel I try to find one to go to, there is one in Portland I am dying to go to-Powells Books!
Do you ever listen to audiobooks? If you could get any one person to record their voice reading any one book, who would that be and what book would they read?
I actually don't listen to audiobooks, I love holding a book and reading it! I can't think of anyone to record a book except maybe someone with a British accent to read Harry Potter- although I am sure that has been done already.
You are graduating from UNM this month, how many books to hope to read this summer?
I am so excited to have time to read!! Hopefully somewhere around 8-10.
